Boyertown, PA- 17 year-old Sheldon Didinger drove to a pair of top three finishes in Saturday night’s USAC NorCal Focus Midget Series Spring Classic at Stockton 99 Speedway in Stockton, California. Didinger, competing in his second season for Ron Sutton’s Winner’s Circle Driver Development program, finished 3rd and 2nd in both Twin 30 lap features.

Didinger qualified fourth with a fast lap of 13.770 seconds around the quarter mile asphalt oval which set him on pole for the trophy dash. In the trophy dash, Didinger fresh off the season opener with a trophy dash victory was ready to claim another one. Didinger did just that as he took advantage of the start and walked away to a 1.207 second victory over his teammate Ricky Bowers.

didinger_medium3.jpgDidinger was set to start the first 30 lap main event in his qualifying position. At the drop of the green flag Didinger battled with teammates Tyler Edwards and Ricky Bowers for position. On lap 18, Didinger made his move on Bowers for third and the pass was complete. As the laps wound down in the short 30 lap feature, Didinger had a great run for second however he ran out of laps and crossed the start finish line with a solid third place finish.

A full invert was placed on the USAC NorCal drivers for the second main event placing Sheldon third on the start. Didinger struggled on the restart as he fell back to the fifth position on lap two. This didn’t discourage Sheldon at all as he knew he had a fast car and could make his way through the field. By lap five, Sheldon had already picked off two drivers and was in third running down his fellow teammate in second. An eager Sheldon studied every move on the driver in second to determine where he will make his move for second. After a short few laps Didinger got the job done and made the move for second with only four laps remaining. Sheldon completed his fourth race of the year in second.

Sheldon’s next race is scheduled for June 2nd at Stockton 99 Speedway.
