Grewohl Wins Again in Midgets

Three Starts ... Three Wins ... for RSWC Star Bobby Grewohl

September 22, 2008 – California racer Bobby Grewohl, driving for car owner Paul Eskasin and DMS Race Products, scored his third victory in as many races this past Saturday evening, retaining his perfect start to win ratio in Midget action this season. Racing at the Bay Cities Race Association (BCRA) in the Harvest Classic at Madera Speedway, Grewohl won after starting inside the sixth row.

After qualifying his DMS Race Products prepared car in the second position, Grewohl would enter the trophy dash race with hopes of victory but contact would end his chances early. The Ron Sutton’s Winner’s Circle (RSWC) driver development pilot sustained some serious damage as he and his crew would go to work on the car to try and prepare for the heat race. With some substantial damage, the crew along with the help of Danny and Gary Bedford worked feverishly to ensure Grewohl was able to compete and retain his second place qualifying position.

With the main event looming and a twelve car invert, Grewohl’s second qualifying spot would be turned into an eleventh place starting position in the 30 lap final. Looking to move forward early, Grewohl’s car was setup to perfection as he began to work his way past a host of top name drivers as he circuited the Madera Speedway with quick and consistent race laps.

Running near the front of the pack, a late race incident would see the red flag come out as the cars were forced to stop on the race track. With the leader being involved in an incident, Grewohl inherited the point and would look to drive to victory.

As the green flag flew for the remaining three laps, Grewohl drove to the checkers at Madera Speedway claiming the checkers and his third midget victory in as many races in the 2008 season.

“After we got wrecked in the trophy dash, I was quite concerned about our chances at the victory,” explained Grewohl in a phone interview after the event was complete. “The DMS Race Product guys did a great job and I would like to thank them for giving me a car that could win. An extra special thank you must go out to Danny and Gary Bedford for their help to repair the car.”

"Competitor Dallen McKinney had a horrible crash. Our hearts are with him and his family,” expressed Ron Sutton. “Bobby did another excellent driving job with a wounded race car. My thanks goes out to car owner Paul Eskasin and the DMS crew for making repairs to a very damaged car and getting Bobby in the race."

Bobby would like to thank everyone who has made the 2008 racing season possible: DMS Race Products, car owner Paul Eskasin, Mason Cook, Danny and Gary Bedford, Ron Sutton’s Winner’s Circle as well as his parents John and Lucy Grewohl.
